Your student should complete this activity with adult involvement at home or in your community.

Saving and Financial Investments:

• Discuss the concept of compound interest with your son or daughter. Use an online calculator to show how savings can generate returns when left to accumulate for 5, 10, or 20 years.

Career Management:

• Help students find out or look up the salaries for two careers that they are interested in.  Help them identify the different lifestyles available based on career choice.

Taxes:

• Show students an old pay stub that belongs to someone in the family.  Show them the deductions taken out and the net pay that results.  Discuss what those amounts are taken out for.

Entrepreneurism:

• Help students identify ways they can cultivate entrepreneurial characteristics.  Help the determine ways they can earn money without working for someone else.
